A strong voice

for our Community

— — — — — — — — —

I care about the future of Saanich, it’s the place I raised by daughter and where I believe our community voices can help — community conversations to Move Saanich Forward.

One of our first EVs in our fleet. The EV fleet started in 2014.

Moving Saanich Forward” these are some of my goals:

> Affordable, Accessible, Sustainable
> Climate Change
> Our Environment and Parks
> Safety for all ages and abilities
> A place where our seniors feel safe and connected

I am committed to celebrating the rich diversity of people in Saanich and the Capital Regional District and our shared responsibility to create an equitable and inclusive community for All.

Let’s create a Healthy and Age-Friendly Community, together, our voices can make a difference.

Vote for me as a CRD Director, a strong voice to protect our environment, manage our waste and continue investing in truly affordable housing.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world, indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has. Margaret Mead

Judy and Denise at a Grandmothers for Africa event.

After working with Judy in local, regional and federal politics, for several years , I saw how responsive she is to the community’s needs and concerns. She challenges government  to innovate and improve delivery of services.

Judy is committed to the environment and looks for practical solutions at the local level to climate change adaptation. Judy and I spearheaded an energy challenge between Saanich and Victoria to create awareness in municipal work environments and demonstrate effective ways of reducing  energy use and costs.

She  has also championed healthy communities that are age friendly and that promote intergenerational  connections. Her work with the WHO “Age-Friendly Cities” initiative illustrates her belief that social connections,  between all ages, lead to a “healthier” community.

I've been fortunate to take part in many community events and municipal initiatives.  I've shared a few of them under the Explore tab - check it out!

Below is one of our Public Art pieces along the Gorge. I believe Public Art encourages residents to explore Saanich, just like our Heritage Walking guides. We need more public art in a variety of places and ensure we continue to support our history.

I was attending a conference and met the incredible Dr. Jane Goodall. So many people have passion in what they do. Jane states: “My mission is to create a world where we can live in harmony with nature”. Mine too Jane! it’s the reason I’m seeking re-election, I believe Saanich needs to keep moving forward, with our community.

I was so excited to meet Dr. Jane Goodall.

Heritage Week. This was my first term, I sat on Heritage Cte, and we used to celebrate heritage! My daughter, myself and Mayor Coell dressed in heritage outfits.
